The ink becomes invisible when exposed to temperatures above 60°C.
Yes, if the ink is exposed to temperatures below -20°C (-4°F), the writing might reappear temporarily. However, it usually disappears again when the temperature rises.
PILOT FriXion Erasable products contain a unique ink that is thermo-sensitive. When you rub the eraser end on your paper, you’ll be generating enough heat to turn the ink invisible (making it look like it has been erased). This can also happen if your pen or notes are exposed to extreme heat, like if you’ve left your notes in a warm car or in direct sunlight.
Don’t fret! The ink will reappear when it is exposed to extreme cold, so we recommend you place your pen or notes in the freezer in a ziplock bag for 15 to 20 minutes and then bring it back to room temperature. You’ll find that the ink will become visible again.
As FriXion ink is erasable, never use it on legal documents, exam papers or when writing cheques.
Many users enjoy FriXion products for quilting projects, often using them to mark patterns and using an iron to erase them. However, we recommend you always test on a small section of the fabric to see that the ink will not stain as it cannot be guaranteed that FriXion ink is suitable for all types of fabric.
As PILOT FriXion Erasable products contain a unique ink that is thermo-sensitive, heat will turn the ink invisible (making it look like it has been erased), however, the ink will also reappear in colder temperatures, at approximately -20 degrees Celsius.
